Obituary: Eugen Lendl
It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Eugen Lendl, who died last week at the age of 81.
Many of us remember him not only as a prominent gallerist and passionate patron of the arts, but also as a person who supported artists with great openness, curiosity, and enthusiasm. His dedication has had a lasting impact on the Styrian art scene for many decades.
It seems all the more special to us today to recall that just last month we had the privilege of presenting the exhibition “Zweintopf: Rummaging Through the Collection of Gallerist Eugen Lendl.” Encountering the works from his collection was also an encounter with his refined sensibility for art, his eye for the extraordinary, and his decades-long work as a collector and art educator.
We are grateful for this final connection and will remember Eugen Lendl as a dedicated art educator, a valued companion, and a beloved person.
Our sincere condolences go out to his family and all those who were close to him.
